Dry Verge Systems Finglas
The verge is the edge of your tiled roof where it meets the gable end. It runs along the outside line of the roof. For years, mortar was used to seal this edge. It does the job for a while, then it cracks, breaks away and lets in water and wind. A dry verge system gets rid of the mortar and uses interlocking, weatherproof caps instead. They do a better job.
How a dry verge system works
Plastic or composite caps clip onto the end of each tile and lock together down the gable. They are fixed mechanically to the roof batten, so they stay in place without needing mortar. The result is a sealed, weather-tight verge that looks after itself.
Benefits over traditional mortar
- No more cracked, falling mortar littering your garden
- Fully weather-tight so wind-driven rain cannot get under the tiles
- Stops birds and pests getting in at the gable end
- Manufacturer guarantees of 10 years or more on most systems
- Clean, modern finish in colours that match your tiles
